Dear Sofia,
there is something attractive in stories about a boy and a girl, isolated far away from the other people. Do you remember how we imagined to move to a lonely island when we met? "What would you take with you if you had to go to a lonely island?" You, of course. But on the other hand, it wouldn't be fair: a lonely island isn't that much fun, I guess. So maybe I should leave you at home and take a radio set with me to call some help to leave the island as soon as possible.
What disk would you take with you if you had to visit a lonely island and had to restrict yourself to just one CD? I sometimes thought it would be best to chose a piece like John Cage's "Music of Changes": it is a little bit boring, but has the great advantage of not becoming even more boring after hearing it again and again. It is some kind of refreshing: nothing meaningful happens. Like a heavy metal record: it doesn't catch you attention too much.
Yours,
John
