Ehre Agni, daß er nütze und nicht schade,
wärmen soll er, leuchten, doch nicht marodieren.
Dear John,
human cleverness allowed to make some technical inventions and to improve them. First, humans discovered the fire and installed a fire place in their home. They wrote some poems about the fire, like the quoted one, they collected around the fire and started the tell stories, tales, epic poems, Gilgamesh, Mahabharata, Illias. Than they seperate the different functions of the fire and improve them: electric light against the darkness, an electric range to cook on, a heating to make home warm, a TV set to simulate the flickering of the fire and to replace the epic poems.
Yours,
Sofia
