Thanks a lot dude :D

I've been looking everywhere on the net and your solution works just perfectly fine.

I can finally print non ascii character in my windows terminal.

I was already doing os.system('chcp 65001') but I lacked a way to automatically change the console's font to, at least, Lucida in order to this trick to work.

I still think the interesting part of the 3D killer app equation is less about the underlying rendering tech and much more about how you can get the content creation tools into the hands of regular consumers. YouTube is huge because regular Joe User can create content with simple, free, publicly available tools. Creating 3D content, even with simplified packages like Sketchup, is still a very arduous and abstract process. Even for professionals, it's an expensive outing. 3D is such bullshit man Let's all just go home.

I think the key thing to remember about Madoka is that it's an original work (although not solely by Shinbo), compared to Shinbo's other directorial projects which have mostly been adaptations. In some cases the directorial style maps on very well (Bakemonogatari and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei) and in other cases it's a bit more strained (Maria Holic comes to mind). Madoka on the other hand benefits from the fact that it's an original work and if anything, I hope Madoka's success means that we'll see more originals from Shinbo in the future. All the recent offerings over the past year have really been impressive too; I'd say the future is looking good.

You shouldn't worry about your English, Togusa. Your comment is well-worded and expresses your opinion well.At the end of day, all this hype surrounding Madoka is something of a double-edged sword. So much of the excitement I've tried to get across with this post was conceived as Madoka was airing, when it was still an unknown quantity. As such, the revolution' wasn't so much in Madoka itself, as in the people watching it. It definitely gave me hope for the future of anime, if just because people watched and enjoyed a series as creative as this. Watching it now though, it's just a series. A really good one, but maybe not one as affecting as we make it sound. So, thanks for your comment, Togusa. It's always nice to hear from readers!

Kind of. I compute a sensible value for the radius internally as soon as the control is touched for the first time; this way, I'm sure that the canvas is already inserted into the page. You set the radius when you define the control, before anything is rendered at all, so that your setting gets overwritten as soon as I'm doing my calculation. There are several ways to hack this: set another new value like "xradius", and change my script to read this value instead, and push it into "radius". Or hardcode the radius. Or something else.

Thanks a lot, it worked. I forgot the quotes in the .ico filename ... :(

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but you look like you know quite a lot about cursors so I try my luck : is there any trick to go around the 128x128px max size of a .cur file ? (I want to make a very large crosshair cursor)

In any case thank you !

I noticed that the "radius" property doesn't work. Changing the radius property of the "THREE.TinyTrackballControls" object seems to have no effect. Is it a desidered behaviour? My (very simple) example is here: http://marticus.net/track Again thank you for your work

Assume you have stored ico2cur.py in a folder C:\my_scripts, and the folder C:\icon_collection contains a file funny_icon.ico, and you want to convert this file into a cursor, with the hotspot at the point (12,10). Then you would do this:
C:\>cd my_scripts
C:\my_scripts>ico2cur.py "c:\icon_collection\funny_icon.ico" -x 12 -y 10
Hello,

I never used Python, I installed it, but I can't get the script to do what it is supposed to :(. If I run it from IDLE, it nicely shows the help text and if run form console, I get a syntax error on the .ico file name.
I am using Windows xp.
I am sure I am missing something obvious but what ... :( Can you help me step by step on how to run this script ?
Thanks in advance !
